I’m from a beautiful island with hot sunshine where its warm all year round I’m from across the coastline and over the sea I’m from Christopher Columbus “New World” the land of wood and water and sandy white beaches you all want to see. I was born in Jamaica and then I moved England where I experienced a gigantic Culture shock for because this was the first time I was went on a plane to a foreign country not to live instead of traveling for a vacation. I had to adjust to the accent, the food, and the people quickly. Additionally I would find myself travelling twenty miles in the wrong direction going on north instead of south. Living in Birmingham, England was at times very challenging at times for me, because I had no families or friends there. I had left all my friends and family back home in Jamaica, including my five year old son. During the first month I was able to take the bus or the train and find my way into the city center and back home. I explored a little on my own and after six months I could give very good directions. I mastered the subway, and started visiting London, Manchester, and even as far as Paris, France. Moving to America was not as shocking because I had already accepted changes and looked forward to accepting new challenges. Now the experience of getting lost all over again feels like an adventure. Living in America is all I ever wished for, I have an American dream of which include, a loving family, a great husband, two handsome boys,( including my son that was in Jamaica) and a white house with a picket fence (except I don’t have a picket fence).I also have a twist of British and Jamaican accent which most Americans love to listen to.
