Digital transformation…

 Move from everything in physical form to digitalized media.

 Expand customer base/interaction through social media

Examples:

 Transportation (railways, airlines, busses..): ticket-handing,

info on trains, premium content access, customer service

 Health care: Medical journals, x-rays, analyzing massive data

gathering from tests, blood samples…

 Restaurants: Digital signage, menus, on-line booking, social

media interaction

 IoT and how they interact with surroundings

 Digital world businesses: Spotify, Google, Amazon, Uber…

Some general ideas from the Digital World:

 Facebook presence / number of visitors /time-to-react on

inputs and feedback / new promotional campaigns

 Active on Twitter / rapid answers /e-customer service

 Electronically handled loyalty cards with personalized log-ins

 Website hits / statistics / customer service through Chat

 Payment through mobile devices through credit cards or

loyalty cards, or “cardless”

 Digital content while visiting on-site (Premium newspapers,

music services, tickets etc)

 Localized Digital content, depending on the

site/shop/restaurant being visited

 On-line booking systems

 Digital signage

Data Center Trends 2017 and beyond

 Ongoing Trends:

 Cloud/Hybrid  Mobile  Big Data handling  Software Defined  Hyper-converged  Distributed nodes  Ready-made solutions  Hyperscale

Data Center Trends 2017 and beyond Source: IDC Smart DC Network Transformation Hyperconvergence & SDx Workload Realignment By 2018, 80% of enterprises transform their networks with SDN to flexibly connect diversified IT environments and facilitate new data flows (multi tenancy) During 2017, next generation of converged systems will drive >30% consolidations in internal datacenter space and staff By 2018, 65% of new DC infrastructure investments are for fast IT rather than maintaining existing robust IT Automation. By 2018, 60% of companies rely on highly instrumented datacenters that use advanced automation to boost efficiency and tie datacenter and IT spend to business value

The new Wave…  Software defined (storage, networking etc) and distributed nodes are on the rise, combined with hyper- converged and automation  Customers will change/transform infrastructure instead of renewing  More and more unsure how the future will look like because of many changes and new solutions  They need a Trusted Advisor  Survey that has been made=>600 customers in Europe: everyone wants to go with Digital Transformation but too many hurdles  Customers words: “We can do it on our own….but unsure what needs to be done”  Old rules in a complex environment means multiple layers - they will exist, if not commonly used

Digital transformation requires overall change  It is not about a product. And not only about IT. Digital transformation requires coordination on many levels! Business changes:  Users need to be educated in adjusting how they work (interaction with customers, tools to use..)  Faster communication  Access to IT from anywhere, anytime. Not only applications, but to the users personal data. Print from anywhere. Customer experience:  Customers needs to be informed about the possibilities (on-line chat, booking, premium services..)  Self-service  Social media Communication Infrastructure changes:  To handle Business changes and Customer experiences, the IT infrastructure must be flexible and have high uptime.  IT infrastructures must become more simplified and centralized, and various silos must either be torn down and/or be better coordinated to work together, so that the IT infrastructure will work as one unit.

Beware! IT might slow down Business. Digital business demands are outpacing IT Do not walk outside this area! Where are you walking? Today? Tomorrow?
