We would sincerely like to thank Linea Fashions Pvt. Ltd, Tambaram, Chennai for giving us

an opportunity to work and learn in the apparel industry as an internee. It was a great experience

learning from expertise in the industry. It was a very good exposure with newly automated

machineries indeed. We would like to thank our mentor Mr. Jeevanatham D (I E Manager) for

guiding us throughout the internship period and providing a moral and mental support. We

would also like to thank HR Ms. Preetha Anbazhagan for taking care of our needs and for

providing encouragement at every step. We would like to give our heartfelt gratitude to the

head of department of all the departments that we studied and letting us go through the

processes in detail with the help of provided person.

On the other part, we would like to thank our center coordinator “ Ms. Anupama” for providing

us the chance to the internship and our college mentors “Mr. Arivoli N. and Mrs. Subhalakshmi

Kropi” for guiding us throughout the internship span. It was a good experience visiting Linea

Fashions Pvt. Ltd. and learning the new perceptions, methods, techniques and atomization

related to apparel.

1. OVERVIEW

1.1. MAS HOLDINGS

MAS Holdings is South Asia’s largest manufacturer of lingerie.The company

was founded in 1987 by Mahesh, Sharad and Ajay Amalean, deriving its name

from the initials of the three brothers.MAS Holdings began as an intimate

apparel manufacturer and later diversified into sportswear, performance wear

and swimwear.^1

MAS manages a portfolio of businesses with a revenue of USD 1.8 Billion and

is positioned as one of the world’s most recognized designs to delivery solution

providers in the realm of the apparel and textile manufacturing. It is also the

largest apparel and textile manufacturer in South Asia.

The organization is headquartered in Sri Lanka with 53 manufacturing facilities

placed across 16 countries, with design locations placed in key style centers

across the globe and over 99,000 people involved in its operation.

1.3. MAS LEAN ENTERPRISE

MOS - The MAS Operating System; defines work at MAS and outlines how

Lean principles are integrated into the manufacturing process at MAS.

MOS is a philosophy built on continuous improvement and respect for people.

It aims to empower teams at all work levels to believe; that there is always a

'better way of working', build sustainable process and keep the MAS family

closely. Adopted from the proven Toyota Production System (TPS); it is

customized to the requirements of MAS.

With over a decade in existence, MOS gradually progressed from its core focus

on the manufacturing floor to encompass the entire value stream of operations
