1. Access to the MyStatLab Online materials
Please DO NOT purchase a used access code. Access codes can only be used once!
Your Pearson MyStatLab course is available inside the Canvas course through MiraCosta College.
You need to enter the Canvas course and click a “MyLab and Masteringlink (found on the left-hand
side bar) to sign in and register for the MyStatLab course. This process links your Canvas and
Pearson accounts. For future access to the Pearson course, you only need to sign in to
the Canvas course and click a MyLab and Mastering link.
1. Enter your Canvas course
Always enter your Canvas course first. The Canvas course has links to the MyStatLab course. The
first time you click a MyLab and Mastering link, you are guided through the Pearson registration
process. To enter your course:
1. Enter your Canvas course.
2. Click a MyLab and Mastering link in the Course Navigation.
3. Click a MyLab and Mastering content link.
After you click a content link, the End-User License Agreement and Privacy Policy is
displayed.
4. Link your accounts and register for your Pearson course.
2. Register and pay for your Pearson course
You register for your Pearson course the first time you click a MyLab and Mastering course link from
within your Canvas course.
Course ID: You do not need to enter a course ID during the Pearson registration process. If you are
prompted for a course ID, you are not enrolling in the right course; cancel the process and register
using the procedure below.
To register for your course:
1. Enter your Canvas course.
Tip: If you previously linked your Canvas and Pearson accounts, you are taken directly to
the Pearson payment page. Go to step 4.
2. Review the license agreement and privacy policy and click I Accept.
If you are prompted to enter a course ID, cancel the procedure and return to
step 1.
3. To link your Canvas and Pearson accounts, enter your Pearson account username and
password.
If you do not have a Pearson account, click Create and follow the instructions.
4. Select an access option:
Enter the access code that came with your textbook or was purchased separately from
the bookstore.
Buy access using a credit card or PayPal account.
If available, get temporary access by clicking the link near the bottom of the page. (It's
recommended that you upgrade your access before it expires and you can no longer
enter your MyStatLab course.)

2. Register and pay for your Pearson course

You register for your Pearson course the first time you click a MyLab and Mastering course link from within your Canvas course.

To register for your course:

  1. From the You’re Done page, click Go to My Courses. You'll also get a confirmation email. Always access your MyStatLab course from your Canvas course.

3. Access your Pearson course through Canvas

After you register for the Pearson course, always access it through Canvas. To access your MyStatLab course:

  1. Enter your Canvas course.
  2. Click a MyLab and Mastering link in Course Navigation.
  3. Click a MyLab and Mastering content link to enter the course.

** It is NOT required that you have your own computer at home for this class. All of the computers in the MLC at MiraCosta College are configured to work with MyStatLab.**

2. Calculator

Math 103: A graphing calculator (TI-83 and TI-84 are highly suggested) is needed for this course.

3. Textbook = not required

THIS CLASS DOES NOT REQUIRE A HARDCOPY TEXTBOOK. Please note that your required online class materials contain the eBook for the class. If you do not like to read eBooks (or if want a hardcopy of the eBook to read at the beach or elsewhere), you might choose to purchase a hardcopy of the textbook from the bookstore. To save money, you could even purchase an older version of the hardcopy book and match the content to your eBook. Whether or not you choose to purchase a hardcopy book, you still need to purchase the required online materials as it contains all of your homework and quizzes.
