RESOURCES FOR PHYSICAL EXAMINATION & HEALTH ASSESSMENT TEXT
(JARVIS)
Multiple resources are available to students on the website for the course textbook. To access
these, students should log onto http://evolve.elsevier.com/Jarvis/ or
http://evolve.elsevier.com/student. Students can also access these resources by inserting the CD-
Rom that comes with the book into the computer drive. Once inserted a menu screen will
appear. At the menu screen, click on the “Go On Line” button at the bottom. This will bring up
a screen asking you to register (“Join Evolve Communities” or Log In. You only have to register
the first time. Just remember the information you register with so you can Log In the next time!
(If you ever get a screen asking for student site or instructor site, go to the student site to access
your resources. It won’t allow you to register under the instructor site without prior
authorization from the company sorry!). If you reach a screen that gives you an error message
when you log onto the website or try to log in from the CD, just click on the link that says
“return to home” and the login screen should appear.
After registering, you will be asked which textbook you want to get the resources for. At the top
of the screen in the Search bar, type in “Jarvis”. Then look for the Physical Examination &
Health Assessment 5th edition book (usually the first one in the list) and click on the “Register”
button immediately below the “Resources” tab underneath the picture of the textbook.
Once you have registered, selected your textbook, and logged in, you will get to a screen with a
bunch of groupings on it. Click on the “My Content” tab. A “Resources” tab will appear or the
“Resources” tab will be present when you first get to this page.
When you click on the “Resources” tab, click on “Jarvis: Physical Examination and Health
Assessment, 5th Edition.”
Under the textbook title on the next screen, click on “Start this course at the beginning”.
Click on “Resources”. This will bring up a list of all resources available to you for review. Sites
of particular interest are the “Summary Checklists”, “Physical Examination Audio Summaries”,
and the “Multiple Choice Review Questions”.
- The Summary Checklists are the listings of the skills for each system you will be expected to
perform in lab.
- The Physical Examination Audio Summaries are the step-by-step instructions as to how to
perform each system examination. There are printable versions of these as well.
- The Multiple Choice Review Questions are sample test questions for each chapter of the
book. These are a great resource for review for course exams.
To access the review questions, select “Multiple Choice Review Questions”. Select the Chapter
of the textbook you would like to have review questions from. Click on “Begin Multiple Choice
Questions for Chapter _____”.
This will pull up a screen of questions. You will need to answer all of the questions then click
“Submit”. The computer will grade you and give you the correct answer for those questions you
answer incorrectly (but we know you won’t ever get any incorrect!).
