The Establishment of the Atlantic Slave Trade and Its Impact on Portugal and Brazil, Study notes of Social Anthropology

A historical account of the establishment of the Atlantic slave trade by Portugal and its impact on Portugal and Brazil. It describes how Prince Henry the Navigator led Portugal's efforts to bypass Muslim traders and gain access to the African Gold Coast, and how Portugal became the richest city in Europe due to the benefits of the slave trade. The document also discusses the religious motivations behind slavery and the establishment of perpetual slavery, as well as the impact of sugar on the mass enslavement of Africans in Brazil. It concludes with a discussion of interbreeding and the tragic legacy of slavery.
