TEXTURE
Texture is defined as the tactile quality of the surface of an object how it feels if touched. But it is so
much more than that
The texture is the visual quality and physical surface all around us. Each surface is composed of
various materials and can be smooth, rough, soft etc.
TYPES OF TEXTURE
1. PHYSICAL
2. VISUAL
3. NATURAL
4. ARTIFICIAL
PHYSICAL TEXTURE
We perceive it by touching on object
Every material has a different touch,so it is a different texture
VISUAL TEXTURE
When we represent a tactile texture using graphic elements, we get a visual texture
We can create visual texture using different procedure: scrapping, stenciling, printing
NATURAL TEXTURE
They belong to natural elements like the skin of an elephent the texture of a tree or the
surface of a rose petal.
ARTIFICIAL TEXTURE
The surface of any object made by us: steel, paper, different kinds of fabrics.
Artificial texture are created and designed by human beings for a specific purpose to give a
sense of volume.
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PHYSICAL AND VISUAL TEXTURE
PHYSICAL TEXTURE
1. physical texture have relief,3d
characteristics that you can feel
2. We perceive it by touching an object
3. Physical would be a 3D version a
texture that you could actually feel
VISUAL TEXTURE
1. Pattern painted on the wall or may not
be 3D.but as far as the eye is
concerned. they are just as real as
physical texture.
2. We can create visual texture using
different art procedures: scrapping,
stencilling, printing.
3. Visual texture would be something
2Dsomething that is drawn or painted
to look like a texture
