PROJECT PROPOSAL
Museums are designed to educate, entertain, and preserve important objects from
history. A museum first must find a way to draw people in to continually follow through
with these tasks. Since the entrance is the first view people have of a museum, it must
have a strong impact on visitors and give an idea of what they will see inside. For the
final project, I will create presentation boards for the design of a new interior entrance for
the Savannah History Museum. These boards will need to be very influential so the
museum directors will choose this new design for the entrance and make the museum
more successful.
There will be individual boards to show the different important aspects of the
project. Information on the museum and its needs will be on the first board. Images of
the objects on display in the museum will be put on this board to give a sense of what
visitors will expect when they see the entrance. The second board will contain images of
the present museum entrance as well as a floor plan to present to the clients the need for a
new design. The process of the new design and text explaining why the materials and
forms were chosen will be on the third board. The fourth board will show the floor plan
of the new entrance and will have materials that are incorporated in the design. The fifth
board will have rendered elevations and perspectives to give the clients a good sense of
what the new entrance will look like. All of the board will have some text to label
images and explain what each board is about. Each board will be in 11 x 17 format and
will have similar graphic features to tie them all together.
