"The Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IITM) is one of the premier institutes in India. IITs have a unique and holistic way of teaching, based on practical hands-on experience and observation. There are around 8000 students with quite a few international students too. The laboratories of the institute are one of the best. The Central Library has a collection of numerous books spanning different fields of academics. The serene natural environment of the campus manifests a typical academic setting. The students can stay at the IITM hostels, as well as in many flats, PGs and rooms available on rent outside the campus. The food quality in the mess and the canteen is quite good. The medical facilities provided at the institute hospital are top-notch. IITM has an excellent placement facility; around 80% of the students get placed in the top companies each year. They can also apply for a doctoral or post doctoral degree at various foreign universities to bolster their academic career."
