It is the base structure, it serves as a support for the other parts of the lathe. In the upper part it has some guides through which the main carriage and the tailstock move.

It is the maximum diameter of the piece admitted on the bench, it is calculated by measuring the distance from the center of the chuck to the bench (radius) and multiplying it by two.
The blade advances parallel to the work piece in a straight motion.

THE MAIN OPERATIONS OF THE LATHE
It is used to start shaping the piece and consists of removing the excess parts, in this operation large chips are discarded.

In this operation, parts of the piece are also eliminated in more detail; remaining smooth and shiny, the shavings obtained are finer.
By means of a special tool the piece is cut to the desired size.
It is used to obtain threads for nuts and bolts.
